The Towing Jenneration provides B+E driving licence category training in North Wales and the North West of England and is run by Tim Jenner, a qualified B+E Instructor and towing/reversing specialist.
What is B+E Training?
Changes to the licensing and testing system on 1st January 1997 saw the introduction of one completely new test, the B+E car and trailer test.
Although this test has been around for some 11 years now, a huge number of people, including some instructors are completely unaware of it.
This has led to numerous incidences of people driving unlicensed, and uninsured through ignorance of the law.
How does it affect you?
If you passed a car test on or after 1 January 1997 you will be limited to vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes MAM (maximum authorised mass) towing a trailer up to 750 kgs, or a vehicle and trailer combination up to 3.5 tonnes MAM providing the MAM of the trailer doesn't exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle.

If you wish to tow a trailer which exceeds the weights mentioned above, then new category B licence holders will have to pass a further category B+E test.
The B+E trailer towing test is based on the LGV driving test and lasts for approximately one hour and consists of the following requirements:
- The ability to carry out safety checks on your vehicle and trailer
- The reversing exercise
- The braking exercise
- The drive
- Uncoupling and recoupling
